As someone who started a full rewrite on my fantasy project 4 times over 2 years before shelving that project entirely… I think I’m the target audience of this episode
I was wondering if you could post your craft corner topics too -- I think it was this episode where Anna was talking about writing your list of 100 bad ideas and I'd like... more ideas on doing that. Are these bad ideas all written in one sitting? Is this just a list you write as they come to you over a 6 month period?
Ooh! This is a good idea. For now, I can speak to the 100 bad ideas. That comes from the Big Idea episode with Emily Taylor. What it looked like for me was sitting down with a notebook, my id list, and my headphones. Because I'm a perfectionist/control freak on the inside, I had to let go and just write down whatever gibberish came to mind. I think I wrote "Jekyll and Hyde but with botany", and I'd be lying if I said I could remember what that even means. Haha.
I made a conscious effort to go to the library and sit for an hour or two and just write down these bad ideas as they came. Some happened over long stretches of thinking, others happened back to back. I returned to the library the next day.
I stopped at around 20 ideas. Emily Taylor tries for 100. She's WILD. I THINK Lyssa got to around 30, but she can fact check me.
I think this was the episode where you mentioned sharing a sample plot spreadsheet — please! As someone who learns from looking and is an absolute slut for spreadsheets I would love to see it. The last plot spreadsheet I made got so big and overwhelming that I threw it out the window along with my sanity.
